Since the beginning of my research career, I have made public outreach and education a priority. I have spoken with students from 22 states (and counting) about marine conservation.
Laurel School
I serve as a mentor for the capstone program at Laurel School, guiding high school students through independent research projects over the course of four years.
Skype a Scientist
As a participating scientist with Skype a Scientist, I give presentations to K–12 classrooms across the country about sharks and ocean conservation.
Shark Research and Conservation Program (SRC)
I am an active member of the Outreach and Education Working Group within the University of Miami’s Shark Research and Conservation Program. I help develop curriculum, lead educational activities, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students interested in marine science communication.

FINS Program
I am co-Principal Investigator (co-PI) on 2025 NOAA and NMSF Ocean Odyssey grant to the FINS program, a SRC initiative. FINS supports hands-on marine science experiences and mentorship for girls and young women interested in conservation and STEM.
